Model Spitfire donated by Swartkop Scale Modellers

Neels Barnard, of the Swartkop Scale Modellers, recently handed over a large model Spitfire to the Spitfire Restoration Project which he built for the Friends of the SAAF Museum. It will be used for fundraising for the Project on behalf of the SAAF Museum. Thank you to Neels for such a fantastic donation.

Flybywire Aviation Art donates wire model of Spitfire Mk IXe

Pieter Grobbelaar, of Flybywire Aviation Art, has built a wire model of the SAAF Museum’s Mk IXe Spitfire which crashed in 2000 and is being restored by the Friends of the SAAF Museum. He has very generously donated it to the Friends, to use for fundraising on their restoration project.

Donation of Spanners from Ronald Butcher

The Friends of the South African Air Force Museum (FSAAFM), have embarked on a project to restore the Museum's Spitfire Mk IXe. In order to restore the Spitfire, Imperial spanners are required. A request for the donation of spanners to the project, was advertised on here on the Spitfire Restoration website. Ronald Butcher responded by donating his personal Imperial spanners to the project. In the photograph above, Ronald is handing the spanners to Phil Scallan (President of the Friends of the South African Air Force Museum - FSAAFM). The project extends it's sincere appreciation to Ronald.

Donation of Vintage Aircraft Instrumentation from Hendrik Steyn

Mr Hendrik Steyn recently donation a collection of vintage aircraft instrumentation to the Pretoria Branch of the Friends of the South African Air Force Museum (FSAAFM). The instrumentation will be used within the various restoration Projects, in which they are involved. The instruments are gratefully accepted by Louis le Lagedac (the FSAAFM Project Manager) and Grant Bailey (Chairman of the Pretoria Branch of the FSAAFM).
